Jaxen Simmons and Javan Garrett Power NCOE Past Galatia 69-47

Jaxen Simmons led the NCOE Cardinals to the win with 23 points.

GALATIA — NCOE rolled to a 69-47 road win over Galatia in a Greater Egyptian Conference matchup Tuesday night.

The Cardinals came out hot, building a 21-12 lead after Javan Garrett buried a buzzer-beater three to close the first quarter. Garrett finished with multiple big momentum threes, including another one to end the third and push the lead to 55-29.

NCOE’s offense kept rolling behind Jaxen Simmons, who led all scorers with 23 points and dominated the paint throughout the first half. The Cardinals took a 40-21 advantage into the break and never looked back.

Galatia was led by Colin Jenkins, who scored 15 points and knocked down a three to try and stop NCOE’s early run. But the Cardinals kept answering every push.

NCOE improves to 6-4 and will face the Hardin County Cougars in Elizabethtown on Friday. Last time those two teams met NCOE won 46-45 in overtime at home. While Galatia drops back to 4-4 and will play the Sandoval Blackhawks at home Friday.
