Sveda's Hot Hand leads the Bearcats past rival Sesser-Valier

CHRISTOPHER — The Christopher Bearcats improved to 5-3 on the season with a 59-49 win over Sesser-Valier in a Black Diamond Conference rivalry matchup Friday night at home.

Christopher had two seniors go off, combining for 42 points. Landon Sveda led all scorers with 27 points, drilling five threes and going a perfect 8 of 8 at the line. Trevin Skropka added 15 points, including a big three that tied the game in the third and swung momentum.
Sesser-Valier was led by senior Tony Kistner, who scored 22 points and dominated inside with 18 of those coming in the paint. The Red Devils entered riding a four-game win streak, but dropped to 4-4 on the season with the loss.
Christopher used a strong second half to erase a 27-22 halftime deficit, pushing ahead 43-39 after three and controlling the fourth behind Sveda’s hot hand from deep.
The Bearcats will take a few days to rest and prepare for the Duster Thomas Hoops Classic in Pinckneyville. Sesser-Valier will regroup at home as they host the 42nd Annual Sesser-Valier Holiday Tournament.
