The Sesser-Valier/Waltonville Red Devils and the Christopher/Zeigler-Royalton Bearcats met in Week 5 for the Battle for 148, named after Highway 148 in Illinois. It was also homecoming for Sesser-Valier and the return of Coach Mike Rude.
SVW came out on top in dominant fashion, winning 40-6 in a running-clock game. The Red Devils were powered by their rushing attack, led by senior Jace Erwin, who finished with 150 yards on the ground. With the win, SVW improves to 3-2, while CZR drops to 2-3.
Looking ahead, the Red Devils will be on the road for two straight weeks against Carmi-White County and Eldorado. Meanwhile, the Bearcats will be at home for back-to-back games against Red Hill and Carmi-White County. How do you think each team will finish their seasons?
