Top Southern Illinois Wide Receivers: Receiving Yards

We have our top five wide receiver stats in Southern Illinois as we head into the high school football playoffs. These are ranked by receiving yards, and the top three are from the South Seven Conference.

At #1 is senior wide receiver Junious Thomas from Marion. Thomas has over 1,000 receiving yards on the season with 12 touchdowns and averages 18.2 yards per catch. The Wildcats are 6-3 heading into the playoffs and will play at Mahomet-Seymour.

At #2 is senior Braylon Berry from Carbondale. The Terriers missed the playoffs but showed flashes throughout the year, losing three games by just one score and finishing 3-6. Berry had nearly 1,000 receiving yards with 971, 55 receptions, eight touchdowns, and averaged 17.6 yards per catch.

At #3 is sophomore Kenny Bratton from Centralia. Bratton has 832 receiving yards this season along with 15 touchdowns, averaging 18.1 yards per catch. He has been a breakout weapon for the Orphans, who will get a home playoff rematch against Cahokia.

At #4 is sophomore Tashawn Palacio from Chester. Palacio has been a major part of the Yellowjackets passing attack, totaling 824 yards, 13 touchdowns, and averaging 21.1 yards per catch on 39 receptions. The Yellowjackets are 8-1 heading into the playoffs and will host Maroa-Forsyth in the first round.

At #5 is junior Tyler McConnell from Pinckneyville. McConnell was injured in Week 9 but still ranks in the top five in receiving yards across Southern Illinois with 717 yards, nine touchdowns, and 46 receptions for an average of 15.6 yards per catch. The Panthers showed some potential this season but finished 2-7.

Out of the wide receivers still playing in the postseason, who do you think will step up and play the best? Or is there someone not on this list who could push their way into it by the end of the playoffs?
