DJ Williams powered the Southern Illinois Salukis to a 59-31 win over rival Southeast Missouri State in the War for the Wheel. This marks the fifth straight year where the road team has claimed victory in this rivalry.
Williams was unstoppable, racking up 493 total yards. He went 18-for-25 through the air for 342 yards and 4 passing touchdowns, while also adding 151 rushing yards (an incredible 15.1 yards per carry) and 2 rushing touchdowns. His performance earned him both FCS National Player of the Week honors and Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
The Salukis are on a bye week now, but they’ll be back at Saluki Stadium for Family Weekend as they host Indiana State. I was blessed with the opportunity to video this game for Strongdawgs, and I’ll be back on the sidelines with them when SIU faces Indiana State. Be sure to check the link at the bottom of the page for the full game recap, and DJ Williams highlights from the game.
