Marion senior quarterback Callahan Roper is on a roll. For the second straight week, he has been named the Rend Lake Cabins in the Woods Player of the Week, becoming the first back-to-back winner of the 2025 season.
Roper first earned the honor in Week 3 after leading the Wildcats to a 56–21 victory over Mt. Vernon, a game where he also hit the 4,000 career passing yards milestone. He followed that performance with another explosive showing in Week 4, guiding Marion to a 56–24 road win over Althoff Catholic. The senior finished the night with 374 passing yards and six touchdowns, completing 22 of his 35 attempts.
So far this season, Roper has totaled 1,311 passing yards, 19 touchdowns, 66% completion rate and only 3 interceptions, cementing his spot as one of the top quarterbacks in Southern Illinois.
With 4,000 career yards now behind him, Roper joins elite company as just the second quarterback in Marion history to reach that mark. The only other Wildcat to do it was Matt Brown, who passed for more than 6,000 career yards. Fans may remember him as the answer to our very first Trivia Thursday this season.
