Roper’s five-touchdown night powers Marion

Senior quarterback Callahan Roper has been named this week’s Ballin4God Player of the Week!
Roper led the Marion Wildcats to a 56-21 victory over the Mt. Vernon Rams. He passed for 320 yards and 5 touchdowns on 18-of-28 completions. The Wildcats outscored the Rams 36-0 in the second quarter.
Roper’s teammate, senior Junious Thomas, recorded 168 receiving yards on 7 receptions and 3 touchdowns, while also adding an interception on defense.
With the win, Marion improves to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play, while Mt. Vernon drops to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference. The Wildcats will hit the road to face Althoff Catholic in a non-conference matchup. Mt. Vernon will look to bounce back at home against Collinsville in non-conference action.
