Marion quarterback Callahan Roper rewrote the record books Friday night in the Wildcats’ 48-35 comeback win over Collinsville.
Roper broke multiple school records
in the victory, putting together one of the most impressive performances in Marion football history. The senior quarterback surpassed Matt Brown’s career passing touchdown record of 57, throwing for his 59th career touchdown pass during the game.
He didn’t stop there. Roper also became the first Marion quarterback ever to throw for 400 yards in a single game, a milestone that had never been reached in the program’s long history.
With his huge night, Roper also passed the 5,000-yard mark for his career, bringing his total to 5,289 yards through just 25 games. That kind of production shows just how dominant he has been under center for the Wildcats.
Next up, Marion hits the road to face Carbondale for the Terriers’ Homecoming game, where Roper and the Wildcats will look to keep their momentum rolling into the final stretch of the regular season.
