Spencer’s Ground Game Lifts Benton Past Du Quoin

Riley Spencer Highlights Vs DuQuoin

Benton leaned on its workhorse Friday night, and Riley Spencer delivered in a big way. The senior running back bulldozed his way to 212 rushing yards, carrying the Rangers’ offense and leading them to a hard-fought 17-7 victory over the DuQuoin Indians. Spencer consistently found holes in the line and wore down the Indians’ defense as the game went on.

The scoring support came from sophomore quarterback Drake Porter, who punched in two rushing touchdowns while adding 58 yards on the ground. Senior kicker Zander Hammonds also chipped in, knocking through a 20-yard field goal to lead Benton past DuQuoin.

With the victory, Benton improved to 4-0 on the season, while Du Quoin fell to 3-1 after suffering its first loss of the year.
